Gucci girls: The latest from Blake Lively and Charlotte Casiraghi
I am drowning in a sea of new campaigns at the moment! Yesterday it was all about Gwyneth Paltrow for Hugo Boss and Mila Kunis for Dior. Now I bring you the Gucci girls who star in the latest campaigns for the Italian fashion giant. Not that I mind one bit of course.
First up, the television commercial from everyone's favourite Gossip Girl, Blake Lively, has been released via YouTube. The blonde bombshell was tapped by Frida Giannini to feature in the campaign for its newest fragrance, Gucci Première, named after the couture line that was launched in 2010. At the beginning of this month I introduced the first look at the print ads for the fragrance, which were photographed by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott.
Now I can reveal the short film which accompanies the print campaign, filmed by Drive director, Nicolas Winding Refn. The video was shot on location at the historic Sheats Goldstein Residence, "one of Beverly Hills's most famed and opulent locations with an unrivalled view across the city." It is very glamorous, very golden, and very sparkly. So it seems to suit Blake to a tee. The film is set to début at the Venice Film Festival on September 1.
Next up is the latest instalment from Gucci's 'Forever New' campaign which once again stars Charlotte Casiraghi. The Princess of Monaco made her début for the luxury brand back in March, when she appeared in a campaign lensed by Peter Lindbergh.
Continuing to highlight the young royal's love of horses and equestrian sports, these grainy black-and-white ads have been captured by Inez Van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin. Based around Gucci's iconic metal horsebit which appears in many of its accessories, the campaign references founder Guccio Gucci's saddle-stitched handbags from the 1950s. Casiraghi sports a pair of Gucci's horsebit loafers, a classic shirt, and turned up jeans. According to the Telegraph, in these images it is as if Charlotte is channelling her late grandmother, Grace Kelly. I agree, very spooky!
"It is a real pleasure to collaborate with Frida Giannini and Gucci to celebrate one of the House's most elegant symbols: the horsebit. The atmosphere on the set was very natural and intimate which made that moment very special," said Charlotte.
In total, Charlotte will appear in a series of Gucci campaigns shot by four famed photographers over two years.
