First-Look-Naomi-Watts-as-Princess-Diana.jpgStepping into some pretty big shoes, Naomi Watts was spotted this week filming scenes for her latest movie in which she plays the late Princess Diana.

The Aussie actress was snapped on location for the film, Caught In Flight, which traces the last two years of the former royal's life before she was tragically killed in a car accident in 1997. Donning a short, blonde wig Naomi was photographed filming a scene in Croatia, wearing a gold metallic dress and diamond necklace. Last week, she was seen shooting in London bearing a remarkable resemblance to Diana in a black blazer, skirt and black tights.

In preparing for the role, Naomi moved to London's Kensington and started to visit some of Diana's favourite haunts including The Harbour Club and Beauchamp Place. Her co-star Naveen Andrews, who plays Dr Hasnat Khan, said Watts was the only actress he believed could realistically portray the princess.

"I don't think anyone else could have done it - there's no one else," he said. 'Whenever you work, usually if something has a chance or the potential to be good it usually starts with a good script and I'm very happy with the script and Naomi is doing it and she's wonderful... I'm very much looking forward to shooting."

Caught In Flight is due to be released next year. It is being directed by German filmmaker Oliver Hirschbiegel, who is also credited with making the 2004 film Downfall about the final days of Hitler in his Berlin bunker.
