Azealia Banks lands Alexander Wang campaign
In her first promotional video directed by Daniel Jackson and styled by Alastair McKimm, Azealia dances around looking hot as hell, rapping 'Van Vogue' (a track from her recent EP, 1991) and wearing various pieces that are synonymous with Wang's label - luxe cropped tops, laid back dresses, and casual cool jackets. Not only is this one of the best promo's I've seen so far this year, but it's also the epitome of Wang - simple and stylish.
The potty-mouth popstar and Wang appear to have bonded quite a bit over their passions recently, and for some, the news that Miss Banks is the new face of Wang's Autumn/Winter T campaign won't come as a surprise; Azealia has previously provided music for Alexander's fashion house and the designer even took Azealia along to this years Met Gala as his date. When asked about his latest collaboration with the rapper, Wang told Style.com, "She exudes a certain rawness that makes her a very unique talent. I loved working with her on this video for T fall 2012, and think the collaboration captures a collision of energies."
When it comes to his infamous T campaigns, Wang has developed a bit of a 'thing' for using artists as apposed to models - Azealia follows in the footsteps of other musicians such as Santigold and Spank Rock and Die Antwoord who have worked the camera for Alexander Wang.
