alexandermcqueenvisor.jpgAfter oohing and ahhing over David Sims colourful print advertisements for their Autumn/Winter 2012 collection earlier in the month, Alexander McQueen have unveiled an accompanying campaign video directed by the British photographer - and it's fantastically trippy!

Sims, who has previously worked with other fashion giants such as Alexander Wang, Balmain and Isabel Marant, has created a surreal yet mesmerising campaign that suits the dramatic collection perfectly. The psychedelic, 80's inspired fashion film stars Finnish model Suvi Koponen, who is seen on loop throughout the two minute long video, removing McQueen's metallic visor from her face. Surrounded by a kaleidoscope of colour, dressed in overblown shapes, and stood on a set that looks like it was borrowed from Superman, Suvi embodies an extra-terrestrial beauty that is befitting of the visuals and the collections design.

Vogue.com revealed this morning that the futuristic visors - which evoke the show's 'beautiful future' theme - have now gone into retail and low and behold, they're available to purchase right now from the McQueen website for a cool £270! The site describes the accessory as a, "high shine reflective silver plexiglass visor as seen in the Autumn/Winter 2012 show." Despite appearances, the eyewear is see-through and does offer UV protection, but would you rock it to the beach or do you think it's one designer creation best left on the catwalk?
