Alessandra Ambrosio confirmed for Olympics closing ceremony
Another model has been added to the growing list of catwalkers who will be appearing at the London Olympics closing ceremony. Alessandra Ambrosio has been confirmed for the event as a representative for the Rio 2016 Games and will join in on the official handover of the Olympic flag from London to Brazil, which will host the next Summer Olympic Games. She will participate in the ceremony along with Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Georgia May Jagger and co., who are confirmed to hit the catwalk for a special fashion tribute showcase.
Rumours on the blogosphere suggest that Alessandra will wear a costume created by Brazilian fashion designer Jum Nakao, who is best known for making dresses from intricately-cut white paper. In addition to Ambrosio's appearance, there will also be a traditional Brazilian dance such as a samba to help mark the handover.
The Telegraph has beaten me to it, but the first thing I wondered when I heard this news is whether Alessandro's appearance at the Games will also mean she will attend the official opening of Victoria's Secret new London stores. After a recent setback, the New Bond Street flagship store is now scheduled to open a couple of weeks after its Westfield Stratford store will open on July 24.
I am also pinning my hopes on Miranda Kerr's attendance. In addition to confirming the new launch date for the Westfield store, she also revealed she'd love to be there for the opening celebrations if her schedule allows for it.
"These days it's complicated to work the schedules: mine, Orlando's and the baby's - and then of course all the other Angels. The only time the girls are all definitely together is the Victoria's Secret show which is booked so far in advance, but it's hard to say which of us will definitely be in London for the launch just yet," she recently said.
