lady gaga us vogue cover march 2011 issue.jpgFresh reports this morning point to Lady Gaga landing the highly sought-after September cover of American Vogue. WWD has learned that the fashionable crooner has already been photographed for the glossy by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott.

The cover is set to coincide with the launch of Gaga's first fragrance which has the rumoured name of Monster. The songstress has teamed up with Coty Beauty to create her début scent, which is due to hit stores during autumn. She signed the deal back in September 2010, and at the time told reporters that it would smell of "blood and semen." Erm, not exactly a description I'm sure Vogue would want to be associated with.

Nevertheless Gaga does know how to sell magazines. When she made her first US Vogue cover début in March last year (pictured) it was an instant success. The issue which featured Gaga in beige draped kimono by Haider Ackermann, and sporting a short pink bobbed wig and dark plum lips, went on to become Vogue's biggest seller of the year. No doubt Anna Wintour will be hoping for the same result with the all-important September issue.

Last year's September issue cover was given to Kate Moss, who used the opportunity to allow readers inside her June wedding to Jamie Hince. Wintour employed Mario Testino to take the photos and Hamish Bowles to report on what took place inside the supermodel's big day. Can Lady Gaga top that, I wonder?
