Has Condé Nast put a blanket ban on their staff working on Carine Roitfeld's new magazine? That is the rumours doing the rounds today.

Anonymous sources claim that Condé Nast International chairman Jonathan Newhouse has "reminded" editors and photographers including Mario Testino, Craig McDean, Mert Alas, and Marcus Piggott of their exclusive contracts with the company. Page Six is reporting that the publishing house has warned its staff not to contribute to Roifeld's new magazine, CR Fashion Book.

"A call did go out from Jonathan Newhouse's office with the idea to reinforce the fact that people were under exclusive contracts," a source told the newspaper.

"Everyone is buzzing about the Condé roadblocks against Carine," one fashion insider revealed. "People love Carine but are more frightened of the Condé Nast machine."

In case you missed the memo, Roitfeld is in the process of launching her own fashion magazine, which is due to hit newsstands in September. Expected to be around 300 pages, CR Fashion Book has all ready spawned a documentary as well. Titled Mademoiselle C, the documentary follows the production of the magazine from the early stages right up until the launch date. Director Fabien Constant has reportedly been given "unprecedented access" to Carine over the past few months. Uh-huh I am very much looking forward to seeing it.
