Kate Middleton Asda Jubilee dress copy

The Kate Middleton Effect is now filtering down to high street copies. Not only does the Duchess of Cambridge instantly sell out pieces the moment that she slips into them, she is now causing more affordable versions of these items to fly off the shelves. Such is the case with the lacy Alexander McQueen dress she wore just days ago to the Queen's Diamond Jubilee service.

Hours after the world saw Kate at St Paul's Cathedral in the blush pink number, George at Asda recorded a 35 per cent rise in sales of its nude lace dress which is similar to the McQueen version at a fraction of the cost. For just £25, Kate fans were snapping up the sleeveless limited edition dress featuring a lace overlay with a pleated waistband. But before you pull out the credit card, unfortunately this little number has now now sold out. The coral style is still available, and personally I like this version better.

"Our George customers love the royals, especially Kate Middleton, and George stores have been flooded with Copy-Kates purchasing our nude lace dress after they saw the Duchess in a similar Alexander McQueen number," said Fiona Lambert, George at Asda's brand manager.

If you really want to emulate Kate's Jubilee style for an upcoming wedding or day at Ascot, then simply add a pair of nude pumps like this pair of mid heel court shoes for £22 from Dorothy Perkins. Plus throw in a dusty-coloured disc hat or fascinator such as this one from Debenhams for £45.
