Thumbnail image for Couture_Daphne_Guinness.jpgIn April we blogged about Daphne Guinness's fashion auction, where over 100 items were being sold off to help raise money for the Isabella Blow Foundation. Well, now that auction has come and gone with the fashion collector raising a giant £476,800 for the cause.

Inside her enviable wardrobe, Guinness auctioned off gorgeous pieces from Christian Lacroix, Alexander McQueen, Chanel, and Christopher Kane. Of course the auction exceeded well over the expected £100,000 estimate, thanks partly mega-stars such as Lady Gaga buying a few lots.

"I'm overwhelmed by how many bidders took part this evening and I'm particularly moved by Lady Gaga's support for the Foundation," she said. "I like her very much, and it's lovely to see the nascent beginnings of something that may help other people."

So which item fetched the most at auction? That would be a portrait of Daphne taken by Mario Testino in March 2008. The photograph, which was taken for Vogue magazine, reached an incredible £133,250 breaking a new world record for Testino at the same time.

"As I watched the auction from invisible wings this evening, I crossed my fingers and toes," she added. "This cause is close to my heart. I am genuinely touched by the response it has generated, and truly excited for the future of The Isabella Blow Foundation."
