Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen is set to receive the royal nod with an OBE (Order of the British Empire) from the Queen. The designer has cemented her place within the fashion world even further by being named in the Queen's Birthday Honours List along with Mulberry's creative director, Emma Hill.

In the two short years it has been since she took over the label after the sudden passing of McQueen, Burton has gone from strength to strength in carving a name for herself. This was helped greatly by designing the most talked about wedding dress of this decade - the Duchess of Cambridge's wedding gown. She was named Designer of the Year 2011 at the British Fashion Awards, as well as making the list of the 100 Most Influential People in the World by TIME magazine.

Burton now joins fellow fashion industry leaders including Anna Wintour, Glenda Bailey and Julien Macdonald in being honoured with an OBE. Others named in the Queen's Birthday Honours List are Kate Winslet who has been awarded a CBE (Commander of the British Empire) and jewellery designer Lara Bohnic who has been honoured with an MBE (Member of the British Empire). Congratulations to all the recipients!
