Yay or Nay Wednesday: nail jewelry
The nail ring kind of burst onto the accessories scene when Lady Gaga was wearing them last year, but they're becoming more widely available in more chic designs lately. They're obviously not for the girl who prefers classic basic jewelry, but they can make a really cute twist on the statement ring.
Above, Emily Schuman of Cupcakes and Cashmere wore hers with an awesome rocker look that included a sequin clutch, leather sleeves with a grey sweater and a feminine scalloped skirt. I love that she wears it with a really colorful polish, too. Her's is the Bijules Nail Ring, available at Harvey Nichols for £100. Topshop and ASOS have also been known to carry similar styles.
Is this type of thing the purveyance of pop icons or do you see it on the street or wear them yourself? Do you opt for the ring style, or wear them on every finger like a metallic polish (less commitment than Minx!)? Some don't cover the entire nail at all, and are much more like jewelry. Rings kind of get looked-over in the statement jewelry realm. Usually the focus is more on necklaces or the ever-present arm party, but we all know the impact a fun cocktail ring can make, and perhaps this is just an extension of that.
