So you've found out you have to attend a fancy after-work function at the last minute. Enter panic mode.

Not any more!

The Outnet.com has figured out a nifty way to ensure that you don't have to roll up to that dressy after-work soiree wearing your comfy flats and jeans. Instead from June 11 you can simply hop onto the discount designer website, order something fabulous to wear from a variety of designers, and have it delivered to you on the same day!

The Outnet.com will soon be offering same-day delivery to its London customers on June 11, and three days later it will roll the service out to New York. It will be available to the NY boroughs of Manhattan, Queens and Brooklyn. London residents will be charged £12 for same-day delivery, while New Yorkers will have to pay $25 for the service. This may sound quite a lot but then with the savings you're making (up to 75 per cent off) on designer goods, it may not be an appealing option for you.

"We give customers the luxury treatment within a discount context. In a sense, it's all about choice. That's where we've gone," said Stephanie Phair, managing director.

As well as being the sister website of Net-a-porter, The Outnet.com stocks over 200 high fashion designers such as Azzedine Alaïa, Alexander Wang, Marni and Balmain, which don't normally discount. "Alaïa had never done outlet sales and chose to work with us," Phair said. "We have educated these brands over time that the discount side of the business matters very much."
