Peter Pilotto has been tapped to be Pitti W's next guest designer. Pilotto and his design partner Christopher De Vos will show at the 10th edition of Pitti W to be held in Florence from 19th to 22nd June.

Speaking of why they chose Peter Pilotto, director of communications and special events of organizer Pitti Immagine Lapo Cianchi said: "we were looking for a modern approach to feminine elegance that is constant, profound and has the ability to think about itself."

"We saw this in the evolution of their collections, a knowledgeable process that develops around surprising colours, body-conscious draping and light sculpting. It was also interesting to see how the designers' two distinct spirits come together and reinterpret fashion's classic elements."

The designer duo will use the event to unveil their pre-spring/summer 2013 collection. Previous Pitti W guest designers have included Rodarte, Proenza Schouler, Giles Deacon, Gareth Pugh, Haider Ackermann, Diane von Furstenberg and Giambattista Valli.

Running in conjunction with international menswear trade fair Pitti Uomo, the event's menswear equivalent is Guillaume Henry of Carven. [via WWD]
