Mischa Barton debuts clothing line in Dubai; next stop London
In March we reported on Mischa Barton's new fashion e-commerce website, Mischa's Place, which was launched into cyberspace. Now comes news that the actress has debuted her new fashion line in Dubai.
Mischa launched her contemporary apparel collection, which she created with her mother, at Dubai Mall's Rivaage Boutique this week. Featuring feminine dresses, vintage style skirts and cardigans, jumpsuits and leggings, the line is filled with nods to Barton's former days playing the bohemian-styled Marissa on The O.C. Prices are between $45 and $450.
"It's for women ranging from 15 to 35. There are different pieces that will appeal to different styles, but the main thing is I wanted it to feel functional and easy to wear," Barton told WWD. "My sister, who's a barrister in London, even wears a lot of it."
Despite her strong foray into the world of fashion, Mischa insists that she isn't giving up acting any time soon. Instead she says having her own fashion line "gives me an opportunity to take out my creative energies." As for the reason as to why Dubai, she says there was a strong demand for her accessories line which she has been creating since 2008.
"It wasn't even available in this market, but women really made a great effort to get the bags," she says.
London is next with Barton planning a 1,000-square-foot store opening in Spitalfields next month. Oozing with vintage inspiration the store will stock both her clothing and accessory lines as well as range of Mischa Barton-branded cosmetics. Look out London town!
