marchesa fall 2012 image 5.jpgIt's true! Following reports last month, it has been confirmed that Marchesa is launching a contemporary fashion line although the plans are still in the early stages. The red carpet label has joined forces with LF USA for a licensing agreement to produce a lower-priced diffusion line.

"We have always had a vision for Marchesa to be a lifestyle brand," co-designer Georgina Chapman told WWD. "We have been very specific for eveningwear so far. We always had this dream Marchesa could transcend into all different areas of lifestyle."

Fans of Marchesa's delectable art-piece creations which include embroidery and prints will be reinterpreted for a lower price range. Price points will range between $150 to $750.

"It's going to be under the Marchesa umbrella, but with a slightly different feel," she added. "We have been so specific for such a long time, and the idea to broaden out to a different consumer, and to our same consumer as well. We haven't really looked at that market yet. My dream is to give Marchesa many facets, and that's just one of them."

While she says she has always been drawn to LF USA's global expertise: "I have always been so impressed by the work they have done. I always thought it would be great to be able to use their manufacturing capabilities. Our aesthetic is so detail-oriented, so to be able to work with a company that can bring that detail to product in that price point is something that I found incredible."

The collection is slated to launch around pre-Autumn 2013. Stay tuned!
