Celebrities at the Chanel Cruise 2012-13 show
Among the 200 guests at the Chanel Cruise 2012-13 show in Versailles were a handful of celebrities who happily soaked up the decadence. Tilda Swinton who was on her merry way to the Cannes Film Festival for the opening night of Wes Anderson's new film also popped into the show. Giving very little away about what she will be wearing on the Cannes red carpet, she did reveal to WWD that she would probably wear something by Haider Ackermann who was also sitting on the front row at the Chanel show. "We are family," she said. Alice Dellal, the face of Chanel's Boy handbag campaign, was also at the Chanel Cruise presentation. Wearing a pink embroidered Chanel shift dress, Alice performed with her band Thrush Metal at the show's after party. Other starlets to join Karl Lagerfeld at the unveiling of his latest collection were Vanessa Paradis, Laura Bailey, Sam Taylor-Wood and Sophie Auster. Speaking of why he choice Versailles, Lagerfeld said that distance played a big factor. "As we are very, very busy, I liked the idea of not going too far. I always liked Versailles. I think more French you cannot do." So familiar is he with the Palace of Versailles' sprawling grounds and gardens, he even admitted he "could work as a guide at Versailles." Wouldn't that be something to see? Mixing 18th century references with plenty of modern touches, Lagerfeld's Cruise collection for Chanel also included lots of rock 'n' roll elements.
