Carine Roitfeld to stage a fashion show at 2012 Cannes Film Festival
It is a very Roitfeld kind of day today, isn't it? In addition to the news that she has become a new grandmother (and a very stylish one at that) Carine Roitfeld is also set to stage a fashion show at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival.
The 65th Cannes Film Festival which kicked off yesterday in stunning form will soon play host to a fashion show which has been curated by the former French Vogue editor. Roitfeld has put together an all-black fashion show based around the idea of the perfect black wardrobe. The event, which will take place during amfAR's Cinema Against AIDS gala, will be held at the Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Cap d'Antibes on May 24.
And Carine being, well who she is, has called upon her old mates to help her out. Alexander Wang, Balenciaga, Roberto Cavalli, Chanel, Christian Dior, Christopher Kane, Emilio Pucci, Fendi, Giorgio Armani, Givenchy, Louis Vuitton and Versace have all donated looks for her black wardrobe show. The entire collection from the runway show will be auctioned off in one lot to help raise money to assist the organisation which is dedicated to the support of HIV/AIDS research.
Among the chairs at this year's amfAR gala are Janet Jackson, Kylie Minogue, and Karl Lagerfeld. It will no doubt be the hottest ticket in town!
