Cannes Film Festival 2012: What the stars wore on day one
It's Cannes time! There was no shortage of glamour as the red carpet was rolled out for day one of the 2012 Cannes Film Festival. Beauties from all corners of the world have descended upon the French Riviera with a bunch of them turning up to the glittering opening ceremony of Cannes, which played host to the première of Moonrise Kingdom.
Leading the pack was Cannes regular Diane Kruger who stepped into the spotlight yesterday in one of loveliest colours I have seen in a long time. Her mint-coloured Giambattista Valli Couture gown was an instant hit with fashion watchers. I especially love the dramatic draping , the one shoulder and the Grecian style of this design. With her hair pulled back into a simple bun and sparkling diamond earrings, this was a great way to start the festival.
Joining Diane was Eva Longoria who dazzled in yet another red carpet sensation from Marchesa. The former Desperate Housewives actress wore a taupe gown which was encrusted with millions of crystals down the front and back, and featured a super long organza ruffled train. Simply stunning!
Other notable mentions on day one of Cannes included Freida Pinto wearing a very unique strapless gown from Michael Angel, Jessica Chastain in a sleek-yet-simple Alexander McQueen number, and Lana Del Rey who popped up wearing a black Alberta Ferretti strapless dress which was neither here nor there for me. While Tilda Swinton stayed true to her recent word from the Chanel Cruise show just days ago, in which she told reporters she would likely wear something from Haider Ackermann. And so she did.
