BALMAINFACEBOOK.jpgParisian brand Balmain has taken its first foray into the world of social media today, launching official Facebook and Twitter accounts. Designer Olivier Rousteing made the announcement from the Balmain boutique in Paris, and has since been busy uploading content to the super clean Facebook page. Balmain have already gained some impressively fashionable followers (including model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley) and seem eager to engage with the rest of the world via their shiny new toys. It looks as though the brand is keen to dispel any imposing accounts on either of the popular sites too, tweeting, "This is the only official Twitter account for Balmain and designer Olivier Rousteing. Any other accounts are not authentic or affiliated."

So, what will you find at Balmain's Facebook page? Once you've 'liked' it, you'll gain access to exclusive backstage images, ad campaigns, archive information, runway shots and stunning close ups, as well as photographs of celebrities and 'fashion influencers' such as Florence Welch and Zoe Saldana wearing the brands decadent pieces. In contrast to the incredibly visual aspects of their Facebook site, it looks as though their Twitter will serve as a touch point for all editorial news. This is a great move for Balmain, and one I hope will reflect positively on Olivier, who also shot a video personally inviting Balmain fans to join the glamourous inside world of the rock and roll brand.
