Whitney Houston fashion auction fetches $82,025!
An auction of Whitney Houston's fashion items has gone under the hammer to fetch a whopping $82,025! A beaded Marc Bouwer bustier which the late singer wore to last year's Grammy Awards has sold for $18,750 (£11,700) making it the most expensive piece of hers to be bought at the 'Hollywood Legends' sale at Julien's Auctions.
Houston first met Bouwer while working on a Diet Coke commercial. She then went on to buy more than 500 pieces from the designer and even commissioned him to create her wedding dress for her 1992 nuptials to Bobby Brown.
Other items of hers to be put up for auction included a set of pearl earrings worn by Houston in The Bodyguard, which went for $2,812 (£1,756), and a grey velvet dress she wore to a pre-Grammys party in 1996, which sold for $11,250 (£7,025).
The auction house acquired the items from family and friends of Houston following her death. Celebrity auctioneer Darren Julien said an interest in Houston memorabilia had increased significantly since her untimely passing on 11th February.
