One thing is becoming very clear as we head to all the Autumn / Winter press days. Floral suits are going nowhere. In fact, this Season's risky trend becomes next season's must buy. If it's taken you a while to get your head around the idea of a trouser suit in an Erdem-esque floral, make sure you keep working on that, because there are all kinds of watercolour prints on offer for Autumn / Winter. Matalan have pulled a particularly brilliant version of this look out the bag, with trousers, blazer and a matching sheer shirt in the same Christopher Kane inspired purple and black print, which bears a striking resemblance to a suit we spotted at the Warehouse press day only hours later.

Also key in the A/W offerings from Matalan were the shoes - lots of great flat ankle boots in a myriad of colours and prints, and contrast sole flats, plus some designer inspired curved heels and a touch of snakeskin. The fashion took a lot of inspiration from the 90s, with printed skinny trousers and slouchy mohair knits, and there were also some brilliant faux leather pieces. My eye is firmly on a pleather peplum top with a big pink zip running up the back. Victoria Beckham would be proud!

Also consider a trip to Matalan for accessories with a quirky edge - think animal handbags, chunky bangles and lots of collar necklaces for under £10. All in all, this is definitely a surprise on to watch when the cold weather sets in! Click the image to view the gallery.
