Oscar de la Renta to open London store
Good news for Oscar De La Renta fans across the UK - the luxurious celebrity favourite is set to open his first store in London after a three-year search for the perfect location.
The building in question sits on the corner of Berkley Square and Mount Street, and is currently occupied by hairdresser Nicky Clarke's flagship store. According to Vogue.co.uk, Clarke (who has occupied the unit for more than 20 years) will move just along the road, in a deal said to be worth more than half a million pounds.
Both Clarke and the landlord have refused to confirm whether he was paid the reported £500,000 premium to move. Ex-wife and business partner Lesley Clarke told the Evening Standard that "Sometimes a brand needs to move to be fresh. If we weren't happy we wouldn't have moved and stayed with the same landlord. We have come to an amicable, compatible agreement. Grosvenor [the landlord] has made the move painless but there certainly wasn't any bribe."
With rent on the street rumoured to be close to £1 million, it seems like De la Renta is going all out to secure his perfect London pad, and we can't wait to see how the salon is transformed.
