Did Karl Lagerfeld apologise to Adele with Chanel handbags?
Rumours are currently circulating that Karl Lagerfeld sent Adele a selection of Chanel handbags as a way of apologising for insensitive comments he made about the singer. In February, the designer opened his big mouth (once again!) by calling Adele a "little too fat".
After receiving a heap of flack for slating the Grammy Award winner, the designer was forced to issue an immediate apology claiming that his remarks were taken out of context. "I'd like to say to Adele that 'I am your biggest admirer,'" he told the Metro.
"Sometimes when you take a sentence out of the article it changes the meaning of the thought. What I said was in relation to Lana Del Rey and the sentence has since been taken out of context from how it was originally published. I actually prefer Adele, she is my favourite singer and I am a great admirer of her. I lost over 30 kilos over 10 years ago and have kept it off. I know how it feels when the press is mean to you with regards to your appearance. Adele is a beautiful girl. She is the best. And I can't wait for her next CD."
Now reports are suggesting that Lagerfeld has tried to make up for his bad choice of words by gifting her some bags. A spokesperson has neither confirmed or denied the whispers, instead offering a "no comment."
Let's be honest, offering Adele some free Chanel bags is the least Lagerfeld could do. Don't you agree?
