Victoria Beckham taps into her inner 50s pin-up girl for Harper's Bazaar
For her latest magazine shoot Victoria Beckham has gone down a new style route by donning a series of 1950s-inspired bathing suits. The Spice-Girl-turned-fashion-designer channels Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor as she lays across a fur rug and on a stone garden bench in these retro images for the May issue of Harpers Bazaar UK.
Inside the mag, she talks about how she likes to wear her own clothes to be able to relate more to her customer, although this was not the case when she was pregnant with her fourth child, Harper Seven.
"We always joke that we have this fabulously gorgeous 17-year-old model who is six-foot-whatever and then I say 'OK, I'm going to put it on. I stand for the general public here'," she says. "It's how I work. I found it really difficult when I was pregnant and I couldn't do that. It's part of the process - I'll stand here in my knickers and start draping fabric over myself. It was very hard when I didn't have my body."
Speaking of her recent win at the British Fashion Awards, she adds: "I came offstage and said, 'I cried three times, I didn't thank the people I wanted to thank, I was really rubbish'. But I think people saw the real me...and the truth is, I would have felt much more comfortable in my pyjamas with the kids and David in a hotel watching it on TV."
Hmm, some how I can't quite picture Victoria in her jammies watching television.
