Kate Moss channels Marie Antoinette at the Ritz Paris for US Vogue
It isn't often that you'll see Kate Moss don the couture, but in this instance it is very much a welcomed sight. The 38-year-old has ditched her signature skinny jeans and blazer for some incredible couture gowns for the April issue of US Vogue.
Posing for photographer Tim Walker, Moss channels Marie Antoinette as she lounges inside different rooms at the Ritz Paris each one more breathtaking than the next, including the Coco Chanel bathroom suite. Wearing looks by Alexander McQueen, Chanel, Balenciaga and more, the shoot took place just prior to the hotel closing to undergo a two-year renovation. Some of the images see Kate in a cornflower blue head dress worn with a matching blue ball gown designed by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen.
Inside the magazine, the supermodel recalls her fondest memories of staying at the hotel including various times when she stayed there with former flame, Johnny Depp. "When I was with Johnny Depp, he always stayed there. I had an apartment in Paris at the time, but he said, 'No, we're staying at the Ritz,' so he came by and swept me up to the Ritz - he didn't want to slum it in my apartment!"
As for what she usually orders at the bar, she reveals: "I drink the French 76: vodka, sugar, lemon juice topped up with champagne; it's the best drink ever, but it only tastes like that in the Hemingway Bar. Colin [Field, Ritz Paris head bartender] made it for my wedding. It doesn't taste at all strong - and then, whoa, whoops-a-daisy!"
Luckily the Vogue shoot took place at the Ritz Paris long before the large fire which broke out earlier this month. The iconic hotel made headlines around the world after a fire began in the underground car park destroying 15 luxury cars and forcing dozens of people to evacuate.
