Indie street style at SXSW
Techies, music fans, film buffs and the many of the general transient artsy population have descended upon Austin, Texas this week for their yearly pilgrimage to indie mecca that is SXSW. Sixth street in the normally casual, bohemian town become a runway for general fashion showoffery.
For the second year the festival is trying to harness the excitement of the street style SXSW is known for by hosting Style X, a series of fashion-centric events. There's runway shows and discussion panels on topics such as The Changing Landscape of the Fashion Industry and Today's Fashion Media Business: Same Same, But Different?
While musicians are hardly "regular people" and partners like American Apparel and Frye aren't exactly independent designers, it's exciting to have a wider variety of body types and skin colors represented and to see what this cool, creative community puts to together for their fashion show.
Check out our gallery from the fashion show as well as a few street style snaps from Neiman Marcus's NMDaily blog, which participated in one of the panels.
