The editor-in-chief of Vogue Italia was surrounded by friends of the fashion world which included Karl Lagerfeld, Viktor Horsting, Rolf Snoeren, Roberto Cavalli, Haider Ackermann, Angela Missoni, Stefano Gabbana, and Suzy Menkes to mark the occasion.

Quite a turn out, huh? Not bad for the lady who has edited Italian Vogue since 1987!

Later even more designers such as Alber Elbaz and Azzedine Alaï fronted up to the Elysée Palace to watch as French President Nicolas Sarkozy awarded Sozzani with the medallion.

Helping to record the event was Cavalli who took photos on his smartphone of the ceremony for his blog. "You have to read it," he told WWD. "It's like a reality show about my life."

Time to bookmark that one!
