Tadashi Shoji looks to the Orient at New York Fashion Week Fall 2012
Tadashi Shoji bought a sophisticated collection of cocktail dresses and evening gowns to the runway at New York Fashion Week for Fall 2012, taking his palette darker than usual with an Oriental-inspired collection of drop-waist dresses and Oscar worthy gowns like the below blue scalloped layered number.
With Academy Award nominee Octavia Spencer already pledging allegiance to the designer in his dresses at the Golden Globes and the SAG Awards, it's highly likely we may see the star in one of these intricate gowns at the end of the month.
Though it's the gowns that Shoji is known for, this collection was heavy on calf-length dresses too, mostly with handkerchief hems and high necklines, playing yet again on the 1920s themes than influenced many Spring / Summer collection. They came in oriental florals (on velvet and satin), sheer layered lace, and a plethora of dark colours including blood red, chartreuse with black overlay, and deep teal green.
