It seems there is no stopping Richard Nicoll at the moment. The British-born designer has a new investor on board and is powering ahead with plans of an international expansion. Although the investor wishes to remain anonymous, Nicoll said the move couldn't have come at a better time for his company.

"It is incredibly inspiring to have this financial support at a time when we are ready to grow the business and from a source whom we know incredibly well, someone who knows the business inside and out and in whom we have great trust," he said.

On Sunday, Nicoll presented his Autumn / Winter 2012 collection by giving guests a chance to see behind-the-scenes of how it is put together. Simple shift dresses in dove grey, electric blue, white, mustard yellow and burnt orange stood front and centre on the runway. Linen trousers, cashmere coats, and silk blouses were among the key pieces of this season's offering.

But the pièce de résistance was the recharging handbag, created from a collaboration with Vodafone, that allows you to charge up your Blackberry, iPhone and Android while you're out and about. It works by first changing it up at a mains power which requires a cable to be magnetically attached to the outside of the bag. Once the bag is fully charged it can then power up handsets and mobile tablets for at least two days while you're on the go. A very handy gadget for the seasoned traveller - or fashion editor, especially at this time of the year!
