Raf Simons departs Jil Sander
Raf Simons is stepping down at Jil Sander following the label's ready-to-wear show tomorrow. The announcement came just 48 hours ahead of the Jil Sander show which will be unveiled at Milan Fashion Week.
Already fashion insiders are buzzing as to whether Sander's departure is due to him accepting a new appointment at Dior. There have been rumours swirling for months that Sander is taking over the reins of John Galliano as the new creative director at Dior. Meanwhile others in Milan have been speculating that the move is due to Sander replacing Stefano Pilati at YSL.
It's all very intriguing, you see?
A spokesperson for Jil Sander said: "Jil Sander Group and Raf Simons agreed that the designer will step down from his position as of February 27, 2012. Raf Simons was appointed Jil Sander creative director on July 1, 2005 with his first collection being men's autumn/winter 2006-7. The women's autumn/winter 2012-13 collection will be his last for the company. Jil Sander thanks Raf Simons for his dedicated commitment to the brand, throughout these years, and wishes him the very best for the future. Jil Sander Group will communicate the appointment of a new creative director in the next few days."
I guess all shall be revealed soon enough.
