Oscars 2012 Trend Report: All that glitters is gold
A little gold statue is what brings so many starlets to the Academy Awards each year, which could perhaps explain why so many celebs decided to wear gold at this year's ceremony. Gold dominated the Oscars red carpet with several big names going all out in the metallic shade via a variety of different dress styles.
The Help's Jessica Chastain was breath-taking in a black strapless Alexander McQueen gown which featured gorgeous gold embroidery down the front and on skirt and train. With her red hair swept elegantly off her face, her choice of McQueen really couldn't be more appropriate for the occasion.
On the other end of the scale was Stacy Keibler who oozed glamour in a old Hollywood-inspired gold dress by Marchesa, which was hot off the runway from New York Fashion Week. The girlfriend of George Clooney also managed to pull off the tricky rosette on the hip which could be unflattering on anyone else.
All hail Meryl Streep! Gold was clearly a lucky colour for the legendary actress who won her third Oscar for Best Actress. One exciting aspect of her choice of Lanvin gown is that it was eco-friendly! Made from Eco Certified Fabric, her one-off dress looked divine on her and it clearly was the perfect match for her latest gold statuette.
