Oscars 2012 Trend Report: Ladies in red
In amongst the pale gowns there were plenty of bold colours popping up at the 2012 Academy Awards. With Spring in the air the Tinsel Town crowd took every opportunity to indulge in some vibrant colours such as green and purple. But one of the most popular colour trends from this year's Oscars was red.
Natalie Portman surprised many last night by selecting a vintage Christian Dior strapless number to attend the awards. Her red gown with black spots is from 1954, but it looked right at home at the entrance to the Oscars. Another one who was unafraid to bring a bit of colour to the Oscars was Michelle Williams who rocked up in a super bright coral red Louis Vuitton gown. The peplum feature is very on-trend and was simply adorable on her.
Red hair, red carpet and a red dress made it a triple winner for Emma Stone. The young actress was gorgeous in one of Giambattista's Valli's first-ever couture creations. Incorporating a giant bow at the neckline, there was an eerie familiarity with this gown which was very similar to a Balenciaga dress worn by Nicole Kidman to the 2007 Oscars.
