As the face of Miss Dior Cherie perfume, there was always a big chance Natalie Portman would wear Christian Dior to the Oscars. But few people were expecting vintage.

Her pretty red polka dot gown with boned bodice and slightly ruched bust dates back to 1954, but 58 years later it looks just as fresh, current and beautiful as it no doubt did when it was first made.

It's a slightly more youthful look than Natalie often goes for - the spots are a far cry from the intricate detailing on the Rodarte dresses she's worn in the past. But she avoids looking like an extra from nominated film The Help by keeping everything else quite modern. With her hair in a deep side parting swept back off her face to show that beautiful V-shaped diamond necklace, she pulls off vintage chic brilliantly.
