Emma Stone Oscars.jpg

Giambattista Valli's beautiful first couture collection was bound to get some Oscar attention, and it was the beautiful Emma Stone who chose the designer for her red carpet moment.

Teaming her red hair with a raspberry coloured dress was an unexpected choice, but by keeping everything from the neck up very simple, she definitely made the dress work.

The only problem is how much this dress reminds many people of a similar bow-necked Balenciaga gown that made the best-dressed lists when it was worn by Nicole Kidman in 2007.

But on closer inspection, aside from the bow there are very few similarities; Nicole's dress was fluid to the floor while Emma's is fuller and more A-line, with a more youthful feel. Nicole's was true red, Emma's is pink. It's no more similar than Angelina's dress and every other black strapless number we've ever seen...it's just that the bow neck is so striking.

What do you think? Too similar to Nicole's or a gorgeous choice that breathes new life into a great silhouette?
