Marchesa's angelic Fall 2012 collection hits New York Fashion Week
Start placing your bets on which star has put dibs on a Marchesa gown for the upcoming Oscars. Designers Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig captivated their audience, which included Bar Refaeli, Taylor Momsen and Petra Nemcova, with an angelic collection at the Plaza Hotel.
The duo found inspiration for the Fall 2012 collection from an 1879 portrait painting, "A Soul Brought to Heaven," by William Adolphe Bourgueraus. The show was another red carpet-filled extravaganza complete with floaty, elaborate ball gowns created from hand embroidery, lace, laser-cut leather, tulle and fluffy feathers. The palette comprised of neutral, red, black and bronze metallic.
"Each dress is my favorite," said Chapman. "You look at something for a while and get used to it, and then the new thing becomes your favourite, but what I love is how it all comes together."
