It may be icy cold in London, but that didn't stop many of the BAFTA attendees opting for ethereal, light and airy confections for their turn on the red carpet. Pale colours ruled the roost, with many attendees opting for white, ivory and pale, buttery shades.

From Shailene Woodley's gorgeous Dolce & Gabbana flower-strewn multilayer dress to Gillian Anderson's pitch perfect vintage couture gown, these nudes were anything but bare. detail, texture and layers added interest and stopped things looking too washed out.

Throw in a good splash of gold, via Christina Ricci in Givenchy, Jessica Chastain in Oscar de la Renta and Emilia Fox on fabulous tiered Luisa Beccaria, and you have the beginnings of a big trend.

If it's light, bright with a hint of gold, it's in our gallery of this hot BAFTA trend...
