Soft, pale gowns were a hit at last night's BAFTA Awards and it seems starlets on the other side of the world in Hollywood were also loving the pastel-coloured dresses. A big trend at the Grammy Awards were long pale gowns with a bit of sparkle and a long train. A few of the ladies to strut this look included Carrie Underwood, Katy Perry and Taylor Swift.

Dressed in a white figure-hugging, long-sleeved dress by Gomez-Gracia, Carrie's silver sequinned number included a stunning cut-out back. The open back allowed the country star to reveal a bit of skin, but not too much. She matched this ensemble with a Swarovski black clutch which was perhaps not the best choice and a pair of drop diamond earrings.

Katy took inspiration from her blue hair by arriving at the Grammys in a pastel blue embellished gown which hit the catwalk recently at the Elie Saab Spring 2012 Couture show in Paris. Comprising of three-quarter sleeves, an embellished skirt and V-shaped back, the dress is pulled in at the waist by a thin ribbon belt. I wonder just how many of these Elie Saab dresses we'll see on the red carpet in coming weeks.

Taylor is really having a moment in the pale gown arena. The young starlet took the opportunity to bring some glitz to the Grammys in a Zuhair Murad design. The high-neck creation incorporated cap sleeves, a dazzling gold sequin and bead pattern and long train. Her hair was unusually swept all off her face and back in a simple ballerina bun which was a great choice for such a busy gown.
