Kate Middleton's surprise appearance in Alice Temperley at War Horse premiere
Crowds in Leicester Square last night were given a treat when Prince William and Kate Middleton made a surprise appearance on the red carpet at the premiere of Steven Spielberg's War Horse. On the eve of her 30th birthday, the Duchess of Cambridge wowed fans in a glamorous black lace floor-length gown by Alice Temperley. Embroidered in black flower and leaf motifs, the dress was set to a nude-coloured base which seemed to fit Kate like a glove. She also oozed a hint of sexiness with a deep-V neckline and a black belt which cinched her in at the waist.
In her hand, Kate returned with her much beloved black velvet bow clutch by Mascaró, which she has been seen carrying everywhere of late. A wardrobe favourite clearly. Her hair was softly curled and her make-up appeared to be a little more dramatic than normal. I love that Wills is shielding her from the rain with a giant umbrella - how very chivalrous!
The star-studded event was a fundraiser for The Foundation of Prince William and Prince Harry. After the film there was a private reception at Buckingham Palace where guests paid an admission price of £10,000 to benefit the cause.
Today is Kate's 30th birthday in which she is celebrating with a "low key" event according to the Palace. Does this mean it's no to an 80s-themed bash organised by Pippa Middleton as was rumoured? Boo, hiss!
