Hits and misses from the 2012 SAG Awards red carpet
It wouldn't be an awards event without our round-up of the best and worst dressed. And the 2012 Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards is no exception. Overall there wasn't really a stand-out winner for us amongst the celeb crowd (perhaps they are saving their best for the Oscars) but there were still a couple of notable mentions who made our hits and misses list.
Starting with the hits, for us Zoe Saldana's Givenchy Couture number was an edgy choice for the actress but one that I applaud. Simply for a burst of colour, Emily Blunt's green Oscar de la Renta gown gave us a rest from all of the neutral-toned gowns so kudos to her for that. Finally, her unique choice has already divided opinion but I take my hat off to Rose Byrne. Not only did she opt for a sparkly jumpsuit instead of a dress, she also chose the SAGs to show off a new uber-chic bob. It was two surprises in one!
And now onto the misses... Let me start off by saying that overall there weren't too many blunders at the SAGs, however there were a few misjudgements here and there that didn't sit well with me. This also pains me because I love all three of these ladies very much.
While I quite like the design of The Big Bang Theory's Kaley Cuoco strapless mint gown, the colour just doesn't do it for me. It seems to wash her out and appears to be a bit frou frou for her age. Heather Morris from Glee is another one for whom I adore but unfortunately this time she just got it plain wrong on the red carpet. Her black leather and mesh off-the-shoulder number did nothing for the young starlet at all. Likewise as much as I love Kristen Wiig she somehow seemed to muck up her gorgeous grey Balenciaga halterneck dress by adding a strange black choker. It was a perfect example of when bad accessories happen to good outfits. Such a shame!
