Xmas Day 2011 fancy party outfit.jpg

As Gemma recently blogged, if we were to believe what we see on our TV screens then Christmas Day is all about frocking up for a formal affair where the family resembles something out of a Marks & Spencer holiday ad or an episode of Made In Chelsea. Now we're not saying that this isn't actually the case for some families, just not ours.

So if you do happen to be attending a lovely fancy party this coming Christmas Day (lucky you!) then I may just have the outfit for you. We know that Kate Middleton is planning several outfits for her many Christmas Day festivities, of which at least one consist of formal attire. But I think I have found the perfect ensemble for that fabulous holiday soiree where swilling champagne and nibbling on canapés is all part of the occasion.

Instead of a dress, I've decided this year's Christmas Day party outfit should be a jumpsuit. (Sidebar: If you are on the hunt for a Christmas party dress then we have you covered too!) But back to the jumpsuit... Think sequins, sophistication, and elegance. This should be matched with a gorgeous pair of platform heels or pumps. Add a further touch of glamour with a faux fur shrug, wrap or coat - the furrier the better!

As for accessories, take the opportunity to include some glitz with a sparkly bracelet, earrings or drop earrings. I also think a vintage-style clutch works well with this outfit. Look out for embellishments and fringing in your accessories which is very popular now thanks to the 1920s/The Great Gatsby trend.
