Dressember diary - one week of dresses down!
We're over a week into my Dressember challenge, and while I have definitely not failed to wear a dress every day, I have struggled with the photographs - very little natural light causes all kinds of problems, so next week I must make more of an effort to take my pics in the office where things don't look quite so...orange! Just this once, please forgive the bad snaps and stick with me as I continue to chronicle my month of wearing nothing but dresses...
I left you on Friday with a star printed maxi, and since then, here's what I've worn...
Saturday December 3rd
Saturday was mostly spent tidying my flat and doing chores, so I called on a comfy old faithful, a crossover jersey dress with elasticated waist bought from H&M a couple of years ago. It was teamed with thick black tights (of course) and my Frye Carmen boots. It was a practical - if boring - bit of frocking, so I added a sparkly headband for a bit of a festive touch!
Sunday December 4th
Another day spent mostly at home (the last quiet weekend before Christmas) meant dragging a very old teal coloured sheer dress from Primark out of retirement. I wore it over a black slip, with my hair in a lazy bun. This dress may now have to go to the big wardrobe in the sky - I managed to spill bright red pasta sauce all over it as I cooked in the evening. I ruined another dress exactly this way last Dressember. You'd think I'd learn to wear an apron, wouldn't you?
Monday December 5th
I took a bit of holiday on Mon - Wed to do a bit of Christmas shopping and spend some time with my mum, who was visiting for a few days. For the first day of retail therapy, I wore a Laura Lees for Topshop dress (which must be at least 4 or 5 years old) with my trusty Frye boots (again).
Tuesday 6th December
Day two of Christmas shopping called for something not only super-comfy but warm, so I teamed a long-sleeved black top with one of my many Pearl Lowe for Peacocks dresses (I think I have about 8 of them now). Super-thick Accessorize tights and studded jazz shoes from New Look finished the look.
Wednesday 7th December
The lovely ladies of the Dressember facebook group declared the 7th December 'Whirling Wednesday', so obviously I had to wear a full-skirted number to do the necessary twirl. This one is a recent sale find from Dorothy Perkins, and is teamed with those trusty black tights again, and gold-trimmed shoes from River Island.
Thursday 8th December
I spent the evening helping the Domestic Sluttery team at their charity jumble sale held at the Fever store on Eastcastle Street, so of course I had to wear Fever! I'm wearing the Dita dress, which I thought was apt given who I ran into last week. The shoes are New Look, but I have to admit I didn't last long in them until I slipped into flats!
Friday 9th December
And so we come to today, and time for another Pearl Lowe for Peacocks number. This is my favourite from the range, I'm actually onto my second one (having hunted it down on ebay long after it sold out). The cold meant I needed to wrap up warm when I went outside, so I added a sparkly hat (a Christmas present a few years ago) and couldn't resist keeping it on for the pics!
I'll be back next week with more dresses - tomorrow is 'Sparkly Saturday' so I'll be whipping out my sequins...even if I will just be sat in front of the telly glued to the X Factor final!
