Alice Dellal for Chanel handbag campaign preview.jpg

It's true! Alice Dellal has been tapped to be the new face of Chanel. The British model is the face of the fashion house's Boy Chanel handbag collection. Although an unconventional choice, Karl Lagerfeld is said to have been enamoured by the punk rocker and her half-shaved hair style. Rumours that she had joined the Chanel camp began to swirl around online last week.

"[Karl Lagerfeld] had a crush on this unique, charismatic young lady, who is both a model and musician, during a photo shoot several months ago," stated Chanel. "This previously unforeseen alliance finally became self-evident. Alice Dellal represents the perfect incarnation of all that is unique about the Boy Chanel handbag collection, which strives [to be] far from conformist notions of femininity."

A behind-the-scenes image from the campaign shoot has been revealed via WWD. It shows Lagerfeld himself photographing the ads, with Dellal sitting on top of an antique chest inside a lavish apartment. Dressed in a cream and black ensemble, Alice appears quite feminine-looking wearing a black bow and pearl barrette in her hair.

The ads will be unveiled worldwide in March.
