Why didn't Kate Middleton make the BFC's British Style Icon shortlist?
As the 2011 British Fashion Awards draws nearer, many are wondering why Kate Middleton didn't make this shortlist for the British Style Icon award. With her significant influence on fashion over the past year, it seems rather strange that the Duchess wouldn't make the cut which has a shortlisted 18 others.
Some of the nominees include Victoria Beckham, Florence Welch, last year's winner Alexa Chung, and Lara Stone. The absence of Middleton has many asking whether she has been deliberately snubbed by the British Fashion Council (BFC). Or perhaps it's simply because she may not be permitted by the Palace to accept the award even if she did win.
"There are plenty of great names on the BFC's list...," writes Luke Leitch of the Telegraph. "... But why any of them is deemed a worthier candidate than Middleton for this award is baffling."
Luckily the British Style Icon prize is voted by the public, therefore voters can nominate Kate for the award themselves. Best of all, anyone who votes is automatically placed into a draw to win a pair of tickets to the awards ceremony on November 28. So what are you waiting for?
