Paul Smith side profile pic.jpgWith just days to go until this year's British Fashion Awards comes the news that Sir Paul Smith will be honoured with the night's most prestigious prize.

Smith is set to receive the Outstanding Achievement in Fashion Design Award at the star-studded ceremony in a week's time. However he has told the Telegraph he will be unable to attend due to a work trip. The night's highest accolade is awarded to those who have made a momentous contribution to the British fashion industry. Last year the award was posthumously given to Alexander McQueen. While other winners have included Dame Vivienne Westwood, Stephen Jones and John Galliano.

"The thing I'm most proud of out of anything is continuity - the fact that I've always done OK. I've never been number one or today's flavour," he said. "But I'm reliable, polite, and I deliver clothes on time that are well made at the right price."

The BFAs will be held at The Savoy on 28th November. Check back with us for our full coverage of the event. Plus find out who is nominated here.
