The roaring twenties have very much inspired party dress trends this festive season. Perhaps it's down to the success of HBO / Sky Atlantic show Boardwalk Empire, or in anticipation of the no-doubt opulent Baz Luhrmann adapatation of The Great Gatsby...or maybe we're just tired of the fit-and-flare 50s silhouettes of recent seasons and looking for something different.

Whatever the reason, these strappy, bejewelled flapper girl frocks are all over the high street, and the ease of wear (no nips and tucks, just a loose, slouchy shape) makes them perfect for parties - they're comfy as well as beautiful. Just remember to keep your accessories (thoroughly) modern to avoid looking like you accidentally rocked up in in fancy dress. Just say no to the headband unless you're going to a Gangsters & Molls party!
