Despite reportedly turning down Anna Wintour's offer to pose for the cover of US Vogue, it seems Kate Middleton may have come up against some resistance from the Queen herself. According to rumours doing the rounds, Queen Elizabeth II has disapproved of the idea of the Duchess of Cambridge posing for fashion spreads. This has led many to speculate whether this is the real reason as to why Kate also declined an offer to pose for British Vogue as well.

A palace source has revealed: "Kate is keenly conscious that her new grandmother-in-law may not chide her for appearing on a Vogue cover. But she would definitely not be amused, and Her Majesty is a real genius at making people squirm with simply a look or a "tut, tut."'

Wintour is believed to have called up Mario Testino, who photographed Kate and Wils for their engagement portraits, in an attempt to lure the Duchess into considering her offer. But not even that appears to have persuaded her. If only the Queen knew just what type of influence she has had on the runways this recent fashion week season! I wonder if that would sway her opinion of posing for fashion mags.
