It was a jubilant day in the McCartney household yesterday with Sir Paul McCartney, 69, saying "I do" to Nancy Shevell,51. The newly-hitched couple emerged from the Marylebone Register Office yesterday as husband and wife... as well as Lord and Lady! They were showered with rose petals on the footsteps outside by around 30 close family and friends, some of whom included Ringo Starr and his wife Barbara Bach.

Nancy, an American heiress, opted for a demure knee-length long-sleeved ivory dress which featured tiny buttons up the front. The gorgeous dress was believed to have been designed for her by Stella McCartney. She completed her bridal look with a single white bloom in her hair, a pair of strappy ivory sandals and a bouquet of pink and cream tea roses.

The bridesmaid was Paul's youngest daughter, seven-year-old Beatrice, from his marriage to Heather Mills. It is the third marriage for McCartney, who was also previously wed to Linda McCartney which lasted 29 years before she passed away in 1998.
