What a breath of fresh air the Fendi Spring/Summer 2012 show was! Karl Lagerfeld put a little bit of humour into his latest creation for the fashion house with giant bouffant hairstyles and oversized sunglasses. Instead of Twenties-inspired pieces, drop waists and dizzying prints, Lagerfeld went back to what he knows best - dressing the everyday woman on the streets of Italy.

This collection was full of neutral separates, chic and sophisticated styles that stuck to a palette of mostly black, white, nude and grey. Jackets and tops featured cut-out shoulders, there was also striped suits, swishy pleated skirts, wide-leg palazzo trousers, button-up shirts and sheer blouses. There were also some colourful moments in polka dots, and shots of wheatgrass green, tomato red, burnt orange, sky blue and khaki. It was ladylike dressing without the fuss.
