Hanging out backstage at David Koma's spring summer 2012 show enabled me to get up close and personal with the collection just minutes before it hit the runway.

All the David Koma signatures were there; shapes, monochrome and an innovative use of embellishment. Iridescent mirrored perspex sewn onto fringed leather belts, designed to be worn over the top of the beautifully tailored dresses were the key pieces of the collection and I couldn't wait to see them on the catwalk.

The atmosphere backstage was electric; models were running from hair to makeup, to nails, to tanning and finally to dressers. Adjustments were still being made with just half an hour to go and Kenna, ghd's creative director was just making the final tweaks the futuristic, slick look he'd designed for the hair.
