London Fashion Week SS12 - Mark Fast
Mark Fast is London Fashion Week's king of knitwear, but don't let that fool you into thinking you'll be seeing a collection full of chunky knits and reindeer jumpers - especially for Spring / Summer. Fast's approach to yarn is a lot sexier, and his macrame-inspired bodycon dresses have being fast gaining fans over the last few seasons.
This time around, devotee Eliza Dolittle was joined in the front row by Hayley Atwell, Grace Woodward, Zara Martin and plenty more famous faces for a show inspired by the desert. Gone were (most of) the cut-out micro-mini frocks - this Summer Mark Fast is going far more glamorous. Think floor-sweeping mermaid gowns in sandy shades, moving into rich sunburn reds and oranges, and tropical fuchsias, fading slowly into black. Knitwear found its way onto everything from swimwear (with long fringed golden cover-ups) to a killer finale gown in black with a huge mermaid tail embroidered with shimmering flame-coloured petals.
It's almost a shame so many of the dresses were full length - we didn't get to see all the Louboutin shoes!
